Al Kemp is Impact's owner, project manager, and chief consultant. A technical communication professional since 1973, Al uses his strong business experience and technical skills to get clients the results they need.
He has communicated the knowledge required to invest in, sell, use, and support advanced technologies in telecommunications, hardware, and software including Web 2.0 business activity monitoring, computer-aided software engineering (CASE), programming languages, sales automation, data modeling, information resource management, business reengineering, database design, solid modeling, and computer-aided design (CAD).
Al's book, the White Paper Writing Guide, shows how to achieve marketing goals by explaining technical ideas.
Before starting Impact, Al was product publications manager at Unicad, a high-tech start-up company, and documentation team leader at Columbine Systems (now Harris Corporation).
Al holds an M.A. in English from the University of Chicago and a B.A. in writing with a minor in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Al is a senior member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication. Since 1999, he has served as a judge for the chapter's online publications competition. For three seasons he was the chapter's Program Manager. He arranged programs on technical communication theory and practice including Minimalism, Usability Testing, Web Sites, Help Systems, Multimedia, and User Interface Design.
Al served as vice president of the Boulder Writers Alliance in 2003 and 2004.
He is a member of the Boulder Software Club and a CTEK Advisor.
