In Phase 5, we design the technical publication's look and feel to best achieve its goals with its audience. We base our designs on our knowledge of the audience and how they are likely to read the publication. We design the look and feel of user guides, help systems, and other technical publications to help users find information quickly. We create open, inviting page layouts with lots of white space. "Technical" should not mean "painful to read." Nothing is more lethal to difficult subject matter than a sea of cramped text with dwarf margins. Go to Phase 6: Write. Return to Our Method page. |
