In Phase 9, we test the technical publication with its target audience.
Usability testing, which can be simple or elaborate according to a project's needs and budget, validates that users at all skill levels can successfully perform the tasks required to achieve the publication's goals.
Usability testing is no substitute for good design and organization, but testing a well-designed and well-organized technical publication identifies unclear tasks and concepts, navigational difficulties, hard-to-find information, and so on.
